Foundations of Herba Flora

Herbs are a foundational element of the ancient medical systems of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda. Countless cultures have long standing folk medicine traditions, passing knowledge down through generations to this day. Even animals seek out specific plants for everything from parasite control to an upset stomach. Bears have been known to dig up and chew Osha root upon waking from hibernation, rubbing the juice on their fur and swallowing the root to rid their coats and intestines of pathogenic organisms that flourish during their long sleep.

Today many of us are accustomed to taking prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals to address symptoms of illness or dis-ease. Interestingly, some common modern day pharmaceuticals have roots in plant medicine. Aspirin’s active ingredient is a synthetic form of salicylic acid, an active component of Willow bark, and morphine is an alkaloid distilled from the opium poppy. While they do reflect nature in some way, these isolated and man-made compounds are less effective than their natural counterparts as the combination of elements found in the whole plant contributes to their safety and effectiveness. In addition to containing synthetic chemicals, some pharmaceuticals prove problematic for those on healing diets due to inclusion of ingredients such as gluten, corn, and soy.

Herba Flora combines whole herbs to address symptoms and help restore balance so that the body can heal itself. Each ingredient serves a purpose; from direct support of digestive function to soothing mucous membranes, supporting the liver, and calming frazzled nerves. There are no fillers, binders, or flavoring agents to be found – only pure healing herbs of the plant medicine traditions.
